Tungaloy-NTK Thailand Strengthens Its Role as a High-Precision Manufacturing Hub for Southeast Asia
Tungaloy-NTK Cutting Tool (Thailand) has transformed from a sales-support base into a high-precision manufacturing hub serving Southeast Asia.
Backed by expanded facilities and upgraded technical capabilities, the Thailand factory now specializes in complex, high-mix special tools.
Under the leadership of Managing Director Dylan Khor, production capacity has increased by 25%, while advanced tooling ranges have been extended to meet demanding automotive and EV applications.
The expansion reinforces Thailand’s role as a fast, reliable, and sustainable manufacturing partner within the global Tungaloy and IMC Group network.
Strategic Transformation under Dylan Khor, Managing Director
From a sales-support office to a key manufacturing hub within the global Tungaloy network, Tungaloy-NTK Cutting Tool (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has undergone a strategic transformation that reflects both corporate trust and Thailand’s growing role in advanced manufacturing.
Under the leadership of Mr. Dylan Khor, Managing Director, the Thailand operation has evolved into a highly specialized production base supporting customers across Southeast Asia. Today, the facility operates on 4,400 square meters of land, with a recently expanded 1,710-square-meter manufacturing building, positioning it as one of Tungaloy’s most agile sites for high-mix, high-complexity tooling solutions.
Within the global ecosystem, Tungaloy-NTK Thailand is known internally as the “Specialists of Specials.” The factory focuses on manufacturing solutions that demand the highest level of precision—where Japanese engineering discipline meets Thai manufacturing agility.

Five Pillars of High-Precision Manufacturing
Tungaloy-NTK Thailand’s local production strategy is built around five core pillars, each addressing critical challenges faced by modern manufacturers.
Gundrills form the foundation, with the company holding a leading position in deep-hole drilling applications for automotive and mold-base industries. Following the recent expansion, the factory has extended its technical range, increasing its maximum gundrill diameter capability from 30 mm to 41 mm, enabling heavier-duty deep-hole drilling for larger and more demanding components.
The second pillar is PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) tooling, developed for ultra-high-speed finishing of aluminum parts, particularly in EV applications. Beyond conventional side-mounted designs, the Thailand facility has introduced central-mounted PCD burnishing tools (DSP Type), giving customers greater flexibility in achieving ultra-fine surface finishes on complex geometries.
Another critical strength lies in special solid drills and reamers, where custom geometries are engineered for high-tolerance hole finishing. A major milestone from the expansion is the enhancement of Gunreamer capability, with maximum overall length extended from 310 mm to 800 mm, allowing long, deep-bore finishing work that previously required overseas sourcing.
These capabilities are complemented by special indexable insert holders, tailor-made to combine multiple machining operations into a single tool, significantly reducing cycle time. Completing the portfolio are custom exchangeable heads and bodies for the DrillMeister and TungMeister product lines—bringing the cost and efficiency benefits of exchangeable tooling to non-standard and highly specialized part designs.

Executing Expansion at “Thailand Speed”
In today’s manufacturing landscape, speed is no longer optional—it is a competitive currency. For Tungaloy-NTK Thailand, this philosophy extended beyond customer response and into the factory expansion itself.
The recent facility upgrade was executed within a highly aggressive timeframe, moving from planning to full operational capability while minimizing production disruption. Rather than simply increasing floor space, the expansion was designed to create a more responsive manufacturing engine for the ASEAN market—one capable of adapting quickly to shifting customer demand.
This ability to execute fast reflects what Mr. Khor describes as “Thailand Speed”: decisive action, short lead times, and immediate results—values that now define both the factory and its customer promise.
Capacity That Translates into Availability
The expansion has delivered tangible results. Tungaloy-NTK Thailand’s annual production capacity has increased from 84,000 pieces to 105,000 pieces, representing a 25% uplift.
More importantly, this added capacity is not about volume alone. It directly improves tool availability for customers in the automotive and mold industries, particularly during periods of sudden demand. With greater local “horsepower,” manufacturers can rely less on long-lead imports and more on fast, regionally produced solutions.
Engineering Value Beyond Tool Price
In an era of raw material volatility, Tungaloy-NTK Thailand positions itself beyond price-based competition.
By expanding local production of exchangeable systems such as DrillMeister and TungMeister, as well as advanced tools like 800 mm Gunreamers, the company is lowering the entry barrier for Thai manufacturers to adopt world-class Japanese engineering. Customers replace only the cutting edge—not the entire tool—reducing waste, stabilizing costs, and mitigating exposure to global tungsten price fluctuations.
As Mr. Khor emphasizes, Tungaloy is not simply selling cutting tools; it is engineering waste out of the production process, creating long-term value rather than short-term savings.

A Long-Term Vision for Southeast Asia
Sustainability and partnership form the foundation of Tungaloy-NTK Thailand’s long-term direction. The shift toward exchangeable tooling is not only economically sound but also environmentally responsible, reducing material consumption per hole produced.
Looking ahead, the ambition is clear: to establish Tungaloy-NTK Thailand as the Special tool production center for the IMC Group in Southeast Asia. Whether addressing extreme deep-hole drilling challenges or high-speed EV component machining, the Thailand facility aims to be the first point of contact for manufacturers facing complex machining demands.
From Local Supplier to High-Tech Manufacturing Partner
With 1,710 square meters of production space, 105,000 pieces of annual capacity, and advanced technical capabilities spanning 41 mm gundrills and 800 mm gunreamers, Tungaloy-NTK Thailand has decisively moved beyond the role of a local supplier.
Today, it stands as a high-tech manufacturing partner—ready to support the most demanding projects across Southeast Asia and committed to shaping the future of regional manufacturing.
