Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in March 2022
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in March 2022 totaled 9,204 units, increasing 38% (MoM), accounting for 8% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 8,547 units, comprising 7,257 HEVs and 1,290 PHEVs, an increase of 89% (YoY) and 71% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 657 units, an increase of 280% (YoY) and rising from 349 units in the previous month, according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in March 2022 totaled 102,597 units, an increase of 13% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 93,393 units, accounting for 91% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 9%

In March 2022, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 790 units, increasing from 536 units in the previous month. Accounting for 0.4% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 47 HEVs and the growth rate continued to decline. This is the result from the performance and fuel consumption is not different from the ICE car, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 743 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 110% and almost all of them were personal motorcycles

For HEV, the new registration totaled 47 units, decreasing 73% (YoY) and the number was more than the previous month which 27 HEV motorcycles were registered.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 743 units, an increase of 110% (YoY) and the number rose from 509 units in the previous month.
The new registration for motorcycles in March 2022 totaled 169,748 units, a decrease of 9% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 168,958 units, accounting for 99.5% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate decreased by 9%
