Thailand’s Auto Production in Dec 2025 Hits 113,855 Units; Full-Year Output Reaches 1.45 Million with Strong EV Growth

Thailand’s automotive production totaled 113,855 units in December 2025, posting a year-on-year increase despite a slowdown in the domestic market. For the full year, vehicle output reached 1,455,569 units, slightly lower than in 2024. Rapid growth in electric vehicles (EVs), led by battery electric vehicles (BEVs), continued to support production and exports.

28 January 2026 — Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Spokesman and Advisor to the Automotive Industry Group, Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), disclosed Thailand’s vehicle production figures for December 2025 as follows:

Total Vehicle Production

In December 2025, Thailand produced 113,855​ vehicles, down 12.57% from November 2025 but up 8.56% compared with December 2024.

From January to December 2025, total vehicle production reached 1,455,569 units, representing a 0.91% decline from the same period in 2024.

Passenger Vehicles

Passenger car production in December 2025 totaled 45,859 units, an increase of 18.35% year-on-year. For the full year 2025, production reached 550,456 units, accounting for 37.82% of total vehicle output, down 1.43% from the previous year.

  • Internal Combustion Engine (ICE): 18,210 units, down 4.79% YoY. Full-year production totaled 247,929 units, a decline of 29.15%.
  • Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV): 10,714 units, up 794.32% YoY. Full-year BEV production reached 70,914 units, an increase of 631.98%.
  • Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV): 375 units, while full-year output reached 17,296 units, up 116.71% YoY.
  • Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV): 16,560 units, up 4.18% YoY, with full-year output at 214,317 units, an increase of 12.30%.

Commercial Vehicles and Pickups

Total truck production in December 2025 reached 67,996 units, up 2.82% YoY. Full-year production totaled 905,113 units, down 0.60% from 2024.

1-Ton Pickup Trucks

Production of one-ton pickup trucks in December amounted to 66,475 units, up 2.01% YoY. For the full year, output reached 893,921 units, representing 61.41% of total vehicle production, down marginally by 0.02%.

Breakdown of one-ton pickups in 2025:

  • Single-cab pickups: 140,121 units (–1.20%)
  • Double-cab pickups: 571,903 units (–3.48%)
  • BEV double-cab pickups: 555 units (+100%)
  • PPV (Pickup Passenger Vehicles): 181,342 units (+13.81%)

Production of trucks under and over 10 tons totaled 1,521 units in December, up 58.27% YoY, while full-year production declined 33.57% to 11,192 units.

Vehicles Produced for Export

In December 2025, Thailand produced 86,194 vehicles for export, accounting for 75.71% of total production and representing a 28.26% increase YoY.

For the full year, export-oriented production totaled 956,230 units, or 65.69% of total output, down 5.24% from 2024.

  • Passenger vehicles for export:
    December output reached 28,399 units, up 94.37% YoY. Full-year exports totaled 228,011 units, down 22.80%.
     
  • One-ton pickup trucks for export:
    December production stood at 57,795 units, up 9.89% YoY, with full-year exports totaling 728,219 units, an increase of 2.02%.

Vehicle Production for the Domestic Market

Production for domestic sales in December 2025 totaled 27,661 units, accounting for 24.29% of total production and declining 26.58% YoY, mainly due to manufacturers prioritizing EV production for export.

For the full year, domestic-oriented production reached 499,339 units, representing 34.31% of total production and an increase of 8.59% from 2024. This figure was 661 units below the annual domestic production target of 500,000 units, a shortfall of just 0.13%.

Passenger vehicles produced for domestic sales in 2025 totaled 322,445 units, up 22.56%, while one-ton pickup production for domestic sales declined 7.90% to 165,702 units.
