Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in February 2023
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in February 2023 totaled 14,778 units, increasing 25.4% (MoM), accounting for 16% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 9,084 units, comprising 7,835 HEVs and 1,249 PHEVs, an increase of 47% (YoY) and 31% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 5,694 units, a increase of 80% (MoM) and rising of 1,464% (YoY), according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in February 2023 totaled 91,540 units, an increase of 10% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 76,762 units, accounting for 84% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 0.1%

In February 2023, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 1,928 units, an increase of 22.2% (MoM), accounting for 1.07% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 86 HEVs, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 1,842 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 262% and almost all of them were personal motorcycles

For HEV, the new registration totaled 86 units, increasing 219% (YoY) and the number was more than the previous month which 34 HEV motorcycles were registered.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 1,842 units, an increase of 1,464% (YoY) and the number rose from 1,543 units in the previous month.
The new registration for motorcycles in February 2023 totaled 179,228 units, an increase of 10% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 177,300 units, accounting for 99% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 9%
