Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry reported that 162 new factories nationwide were licensed in May 2022. The employment increased with more 8,018 people hired whereas the total capital was 20,585.50 million baht, decreasing from 27,477.66 baht of the previous month. 

Samut Sakhon was the province where 20 new factories opened, the largest number with the total capital of 1,087.11 million baht.

In May 2022, the top three provinces where newly licensed factories are located are as follows: 

1) Samut Sakhon - There were 20 new licensed factories with the total capital of 1,087.11 million baht. The employment increased with 2,207 more hires. The total machine power was 16,595.00 hp.

2) Chonburi - There were 10 new licensed factories with the total capital of 912.25 million baht. The employment increased with 350 more hires. The total machine power was 3,289.87 hp.

3) Songkhla - There were 9 new licensed factories with the total capital of 98.39 million baht. The employment increased with 58 more hires. The total machine power was 4,082.44 hp.

 

However, when comparing only with the factory capital in the province, the champion was Nakhon Ratchasima with the total capital of 9,254.87 million baht. The followings were Rayong at 4244.04 million baht, Samut Prakan at 1,172.46 million baht, Samut Sakhon at 1,087.11 million baht and Chonburi at 912.25 million baht.
