Thailand’s total car production in September 2025 reached 128,104 units, representing an increase of 14.01% compared with August 2025 and a 4.77% year-on-year growth. The key growth driver was the continued expansion of battery electric vehicle (BEV) production.

October 22, 2025 — Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Spokesman and Advisor to the Automotive Industry Group, Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), announced Thailand’s automobile and motorcycle production, domestic sales, and exports for September 2025 as follows:
 

Total Vehicle Production

In September 2025, Thailand produced 128,104 vehicles, up 14.01% from August 2025 and 4.77% higher year-on-year.

From January to September 2025, total production reached 1,075,801 units, down 4.63% from the same period in 2024.
 

Passenger Cars

In September 2025, 49,473 passenger cars were produced, down 2.39% year-on-year.
For January–September 2025, production totaled 395,713 units, accounting for 36.78% of total vehicle output, down 7.27% compared to the same period last year.

  • Internal Combustion Engine (ICE): 21,761 units, down 36.38% YoY (Jan–Sep: 184,320 units, down 31.56%)
  • Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV): 6,375 units, up 330.45% YoY (Jan–Sep: 41,183 units, up 461.23%)
  • Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV): 3,474 units, up 527.08% YoY (Jan–Sep: 15,802 units, up 246.00%)
  • Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV): 17,863 units, up 23.66% YoY (Jan–Sep: 154,408 units, up 6.13%)
     

Trucks

A total of 78,631 trucks were produced in September 2025, up 9.83% from the previous year.

During January–September 2025, production stood at 680,088 units, down 3.02% year-on-year.
 

1-Ton Pickup Trucks

Production of 1-ton pickups reached 77,473 units, up 9.66% year-on-year, accounting for 62.56% of total production.

For January–September 2025, 673,032 units were produced (down 2.06% YoY), comprising:

  • Pickup truck (chassis cab): 106,411 units, down 2.95%
  • Double-cab pickup: 429,518 units, down 5.59%
  • Double-cab BEV: 225 units, up 100%
  • PPV (Pickup Passenger Vehicle): 136,878 units, up 11.64%
     

Heavy Trucks (5–10 tons and above)

In September 2025, 1,158 units were produced, up 22.41% YoY.

From January–September 2025, 7,056 units were produced, down 49.96% compared with the same period last year.

 

Vehicles Produced for Export

In September 2025, vehicles produced for export totaled 85,625 units, accounting for 66.84% of total production, a 2.33% decrease year-on-year.

For the first nine months of 2025, export production reached 708,694 units, representing 65.88% of total output — down 8.46% from 2024.

  • Passenger cars: 20,759 units, down 26.49% YoY (Jan–Sep: 154,987 units, down 32.51%)
  • 1-ton pickups: 64,866 units, up 9.16% YoY (Jan–Sep: 553,707 units, up 1.68%)
    • Pickup: 59,771 units, up 31.94%
    • Double-cab pickup: 388,914 units, down 3.01%
    • PPV: 105,022 units, up 6.89%
       

Vehicles Produced for Domestic Sales

Production for the domestic market in September 2025 totaled 42,479 units, or 34.18% of total production, up 22.73% from September 2024.

From January–September 2025, domestic production reached 367,107 units, up 3.75% year-on-year.

  • Passenger cars: 28,714 units, up 27.94% YoY (Jan–Sep: 240,726 units, up 22.14%)
  • 1-ton pickups: 12,607 units, up 12.35% YoY (Jan–Sep: 119,325 units, down 16.35%)
    • Pickup (chassis cab): 46,640 units, down 27.52%
    • Double-cab pickup: 40,829 units, down 24.31%
    • PPV: 31,856 units, up 30.78%

No production was recorded for buses or vehicles above 10 tons in September 2025 or during January–September 2025.
